Week 1 is the loudest waiver week of the year, and this one reshuffled rosters in a hurry. A star receiver landed on injured reserve, a Panthers wideout posted a career day, and a 49ers rookie out-carried Christian McCaffrey. Here are the top adds for Week 2, with the role, the reason, and a rough FAAB bid for a standard budget. Percentages assume you have a real need at the position, so scale them to your roster.
Romeo Doubs, WR, New England (FAAB 15 to 25%). The Patriots' new WR1 experiment lasted one game. A.J. Brown suffered a high-ankle sprain in the season opener at Seattle and is headed to injured reserve for at least four weeks, with reporting pointing closer to six. We had flagged Brown as a start in that game; he left in the third quarter grabbing his ankle. With Brown out, Doubs steps into the clear No. 1 target role in Drake Maye's offense for over a month, which makes him the most valuable pickup on the board. DeMario Douglas is the deeper-league PPR follow if Doubs is gone.
Jalen CokerJalen Coker, WR, Carolina (FAAB 10 to 20%). Coker announced himself with a career day against Chicago: eight catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Panthers in receiving. One game is one game, and Carolina played from behind and threw often, so watch whether the volume follows him into a more neutral script. Still, he ran a full route share and looked like a real piece of the passing offense rather than a garbage-time fluke, and a receiver this productive is worth rostering now. He is a strong flex add with weekly upside if the target share holds.
Kaelon Black, RB, San Francisco (FAAB 8 to 15%). The rookie out-carried Christian McCaffrey 14 to 10 on a 44% snap share, handling the between-the-tackles and power work while McCaffrey kept the passing-down role (eight targets to Black's one). Do not panic on McCaffrey, but Black has standalone early-down value and is a must-roster handcuff to one of the league's most valuable backs. If you have McCaffrey, this is a priority.
Tyler ShoughTyler Shough, QB, New Orleans (FAAB 1 to 3%). Shough threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns in a shootout loss to Detroit, becoming just the third Saint ever to hit 400 passing yards. The two interceptions are a real warning, so treat him as a high-ceiling streamer rather than a set-and-forget starter, but the volume and arm talent are worth a look if you punted quarterback.
Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans (FAAB 1 to 5%). With Alvin Kamara sidelined, Miller tied for the team lead in carries and found the end zone in a New Orleans backfield still splitting work with Travis Etienne. He is a stash rather than a plug-and-play starter, but a committee back who scores in Week 1 with more opportunity available is exactly the kind of dart worth a bench spot. Track the Etienne split before you trust him in a lineup.
The A.J. Brown injury is the move of the week, so if you need a receiver, spend up for Romeo Doubs while the role is wide open. Jalen Coker and Kaelon Black are the best combination of floor and upside after that, Tyler Shough is the streamer for the quarterback-needy, and Kendre Miller is the stash with the clearest path to more. Before you set your bids, check where these names land in our rankings, and revisit the backfields breakdown for the committees driving half of this list. Get your claims in before Wednesday night.
