FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget) is a season-long budget you spend to win waiver claims. As a rule of thumb, spend big (30 percent or more) on a player who can start for you immediately, a modest amount (5 to 15 percent) on upside stashes, and 1 dollar on lottery-ticket depth. Never leave your budget unused heading into the fantasy playoffs.
If a player could help this week and others want him, use a waiver claim so you do not get sniped. If he is a speculative stash few are chasing, you can often wait until waivers clear and add him as a free agent for nothing.
